Stephan the idiot [Oct. 7th, 2007|10:03 pm]
Stephan
The comic will be delayed a while longer due to my utter stupidity.

A few weeks ago I bought a new camera to replace my old 2 megapixel toy. Now I have a 7.1 megapixel & optical zoom pride and joy. Well, I haven't given it a proper trial yet, so at 11:20am today I was heading out to the local iced tea shop and decided "Why not bring the camera and snap a few shots along the way?"

You see... your friendly neighbourhood foxaroo has never learned to do anything in moderation. A short distance along the footpath I thought, "Hey! I could photograph this... and that... and that.... and that..."

"This" begins with a location some distance off the beaten track, and "that" involves a detour which in fact is entirely in the opposite direction to where I should have been going. Presumably anyone accustomed to driving a car would recognise the excessive walking, but one thing I share with the kangaroo species is the blind instinct of wanderlust and the legs that support it. Another shared trait is a skeletal structure barely able to support my (overweight) body.

At 2:30pm I staggered home, aching in every bone, and would have been dehydrated if I'd not finally visited the sought-after tea shop.

I'd post some of the photos, but I'd need to upload them to photobucket and it's 10:20pm now. Maybe later in the week.

So, for the next 48 hours all my friends are welcome to reply to this post beginning with any of the following words: "Cretin, Dimwit, Fool, Half-wit, Idiot, Imbecile, Jerk, Moron, etc"

When did "Trying out something new and enjoying myself doing it" come to equal "stupid"? Sounded to me like, up until the point where you started pushing your physical limit, you were having fun.

"Stupid", to me, would have been "I got a brand-new camera so I stayed inside all day and did nothing with it."

If you don't let yourself get carried away once in a while, you'll never find the unexpected.

But this is far from the first time I've let my feet do my thinking... when I lived in Newcastle I often walked 40km on a weekend (no money to entertain myself). All the places I visited are locations I've been to before...
...and I'm still sore all over. :(

Haha!! I just noticed your choice of image. Cle-ver! Lucky; I normally don't load the images on my web pages but I thought Sleepy John has such interesting avatars.

If you had fun doing it at the time, then it wasn't stupid. It may have come at a price, but it wasn't stupid.
