The three letters I did NOT want to hear [Sep. 16th, 2008|08:52 pm]

Magnetic resonance imaging.

The neurologist has asked me to undertake an MRI. I can only hope that this can be done on the public system because I canot possibly afford this out of my own pocket.

My orthopaedic surgeon already wanted me to have this performed on the shoulder which had suffered calcification, so I'm trying to arrange for both affected body parts to be scanned on the same day.

The good news is that the neurologist knows my orthopaedic surgeon, and has stated that he might be able to arrange this on the public system. I can only hope and pray.

I'm meeting with the orthopaedic surgeon next Wednesday morning (the 24th September).

Sheesh! Human bodies are NOT easy to maintain, and they're certainly no fun to live in.

Sometimes it's a sick joke. You have my prayer.

Foxaroo, our bodies can be more trouble than they seem to be worth, but I have a firm conviction they are critical for our happiness, and at some point in our journey I think we will all recognize that.

You have had more than your share of physical challenges. I hope the logistics can be worked out so you don't have to pony up for the scan, but more importantly, that you get some answers which will bring you long-term relief.

Challenges physical, financial, intellectual (dyslexia) and family.

Thanks Old Wolf. The most frustrating thing is not knowing. The neurologist wouldn't even give me any indication of what they may need to do if the MRI confirms a pinched nerve. My boss is of the opinion that this could only be corrected with an operation, which again I can't afford.

Thanks Alaskawolf.

Or maybe it will simply render me in the same state as Mr Burns (Simpsons) who was found glowing out in the woods.
