The revelation of a 2nd opinion [Mar. 10th, 2008|12:19 pm]
While I was at the Medical Centre having my fever investigated I also asked for another check on the pain coming from my left shoulder. This Doctor was more thorough than the previous had been, and he found that there was a seat of pain not only in my upper arm, but in the shoulder joint. He suspects that there's a nerve pinched between two of the bones (don't ask which ones; I don't even know what bones are found in a kangaroo) and sent me for some diagnostic imaging.

I've just completed a full set of X-rays on my shoulder, and I'm currently booked in for an ultrasound on Wednesday afternoon (so long as there's no interference from my job).

Meanwhile my fever is continuing to make me feel as if I'm a kaled mutant... :(

Thanks, I really appreciate that.

Something has happened so that I'm now in constant pain in the shoulder, rather than it hurting simply when I move the arm. I don't know whether my fever is amplifying the pain, or if I rolled on top of my arm while asleep, or if the nerve was driven into a worse position during the X-rays when I was asked to hold the arm in certain positions, including twisting the arm a couple of times.

I went to bed around 9pm after taking both a nurofen tablet (pain killer) and a temazepam tablet (sleeping pil). It's now 2:00am again and I'm wide awake and the shoulder pain wont cease no matter what position I place my arm.

The ultrasound examination isn't for another day and a half. I don't know how I'm going to last that long. I'll be calling in at the Doctors tomorrow to see if there's ANYTHING at all they can do for easing this, even if it's only temporary.
