"Access Denied" [Mar. 12th, 2010|06:15 pm]
Stephan
(An open post because I need all my online friends and associates to know)

"Access Denied" is what appeared on my screen today when I tried to log into my yahoo mail from work. Like something straight out of an old sci-fi movie. The company's new software has indeed blocked access to our private web-based E-mail sites.

This means that NOBODY can reach me during working hours unless they have either my work E-mail address or one of my telephone numbers. :(

The work E-mail address is also tricky, because one of my friends today sent me a message and it was temporarily detained. I suspect that there will be much scruitiny of anything that doesn't come from clients.

I'm trying to find a nearby internet cafe that has enough computers for at least one to be spare during the lunch hour. It's like hunting for gold... :(

Now here's the really absurd part. At the present point in time I'm still able to access *ALL* of the web comics that I read at work, the associated forums and even the Yahoo website itself, just not the E-mail login. Where's the logic in that?

[Sigh]

How much time do you have at home to respond to messages and such?

Not a great deal. My official work hours are 9am - 5:15pm. If I'm alert enough during breakfast time I check my E-mails before I leave home around 8:20am. I'm never home before 6pm, and on most days it's later than that still. I'm at Fox Valley Saturday mornings and performing housework on Sunday.

What bothers me is that 8+ hours during the weekdays that I'll be cut off from my personal E-mails. My job is stressful enough without the isolation.

It's too bad they don't drop the wall during lunch break or something...
(you know, the time they're supposed to let you have to relax in?)

No logic, but let us be grateful for small mercies....

LOL Thanks. Let's hope it stays that way. I'm not at all surprised that Yahoo mail was the primary target, but I doubt it would be the only target. They may be adding other sites as time goes by.

Logic? You mean, like "Corporate Logic"? Like "Honest Politician" or "Military Intelligence"? Oh, that kind of logic...
