That's not an MRI, this is an MRI... [Oct. 8th, 2008|10:06 pm]
Stephan
Whoa.

The machine in yesterday's MRI scan was exactly what I'd seen before on TV and movies, but the one involved today was twice the size. Whether or not that's significant I don't know, but the machine was far more comfortable to endure than last time. Same types of buzzing noises though.

Oddly enough, I found that there was more care taken here, at the public hospital, than in yesterday's private imaging clinic where I had to front up with the cash. Yesterday I had only a loose brace on my shoulder (the part undergoing scan) while today my neck was not only enclosed by a brace but the radiographer(?) padded the sides of my head with foam pieces to make it far easer to avoid movement. There was also a large piece of padding under my knees that made the experience more comfortable still (I wonder if I can buy something like that to help me sleep).

Now for the annoying news. For yesterday's scan, I wont know the results until the 20th because my orthapaedic surgeon is attending an overseas conference. As for the neurologist, I need to dial in tomorrow and book in the consultation

Looks like you didn't finish this entry. Is only a period missing? (Do Aussies call it a full stop?)

I'm a bit surprised to see you parody a Crocodile Dundee line, given your past annoyance at American ignorance of real Aussies.

[Groan] Yes Mr Punctuation. :P I made at typo, and yes we call them full stops here. A couple of months ago I teased Sue Deer saying that she truncated her character Futura and gave her a full stop.

[Double groan]And I just recently got over my grief when someone in the northern hemisphere expressed surprise at the fact that we have places in Australia where it snows.

Crocodile Dundee was a great film. Not the sort of thing that I'm interested in myself, but I liked the "city mouse/country mouse" aspect. Paul Hogan in interview explained that he wanted to make a film that "Americans would enjoy" rather than a postcard view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

I admit I have a bias due to the "Skippy" scene where Dundee scared away the roo shooters by posing as a kangaroo with a shotgun. In RL the scene brought about awareness of the cruelty in kangaroo hunting, and caused kangaroo meat sales to plumet. Pity nobody else is keeping up the pressure on them.

In any case, Crocodile Dundee is a far cry from Rocko's Modern Life.

:)

When I got a groan from Pony for a quip I made about the 5th of July and the 5th Amendment it was one of the most delightful moments of being on the CTC forum.

HehHeh. You quoted probably the only funny line from the Dundee films...

Sorry you have to wait for the results... I didn't know they had overseas golf tournaments. :)

Heeheehee! I had to think about that one for a while, but it gave me a very much needed laugh. Thanks. :)

Certainly the most iconic line. I can't remember much more about the films, and I don't have any in my posession.

I did however like "Thanks Skippy." XD
