The second worst holiday I've ever had [Jun. 29th, 2008|07:08 pm]
Stephan
(The record for the worst holiday I've ever had goes back to 1991 when a trip to the state of Victoria was ruined by the behaviour of certain members of my family).

This was rather bad all the same...

Monday - The Chiropractic Appointment
Afterward experienced a strong burning pain in my neck and left shoulder.

Tuesday - Dental appointment
Came home, had a very simple (and soft) lunch. Still in agony from my neck and shoulder. Went to bed at 2:00pm and did not get out again until late the next morning.

Wednesday
Hobbled around the house trying to do the things I wanted to, but not in a sufficient state of health to make any progress.

Thursday
Only marginally better than Wednesday

Friday
Finally reaching a point where the pain was a mere annoyance rather than hindering my movement. Had planned to visit the Blue Mountains but still not well enough.

Saturday
Able to move around comfortably for the first time since Monday morning. Went for a walk - badly needed the exercise and fresh air since I'd been cooped up the past three days. Not able to visit the Blue Mountains because the North Shore railway was closed for repairs (this happens a lot here).

Today (Sunday)
Had to catch up on housework and prepare for returning to the office. Not looking forward to seeing the accumulation of work E-mails.

I hate being human.

Bummer. Even on vacation (as we Americans call it), you wind up feeling cruddy during what would be the work week and feel like yourself only on the weekend.

Even now (Monday morning) it still feels sore. My shoulder/arm hurts, especially when I raise it skyward, and there's a stabbing pain in my neck at rear left. My neck is OK if I turn my head left, but the pain is increased if I turn right.

I really hope the chiropractor hasn't made a mistake.

Me too! A whole week away from work should have been the opportunity to resume Kaustic auZzie Notes. At the very least it should have been a rest from tension for my weary soul.
